WOODSTOCK, Vt. - Last fall Woodstock beat Windsor 48-7 in the regular season and 50-0 in the playoffs. On Saturday afternoon the Yellowjackets went to Woodstock and flipped the script with a 32-18 win over the Wasps.
It was Windsor’s second straight win and its fourth of the season, lifting the Yellowjackets to 4-3. That is already two more wins than last year’s 2-7 team.
Defense has been the story lately. After giving up 66 points in its first three games, Windsor has allowed 47 points over its last four games, a stretch that includes a 10-0 loss at Otter Valley. The Yellowjackets edged Springfield 15-12 on Oct. 9 before this one.
The offense has shown it can explode too. Windsor opened the season with a 54-0 win over Missisquoi Valley and put up 46 points against Milton on Sept. 26, and Saturday’s 32 points were its third-highest total of the fall.
Woodstock drops to 2-6. The all-time series between the neighbors had been 14-13 in Woodstock’s favor coming in, so Saturday’s win pulled Windsor even.

CROSS COUNTRY
Windsor at the state championships in Thetford | Saturday, October 24
A year ago Windsor had only three runners and could not score as a team. On Saturday the Yellowjackets brought seven girls to the line at the state cross country championships at Thetford Academy.
Senior Olivia Dube led the way in 13th in her division race, finishing in 23:12.1. Sophomores Maci Burch (35th) and Natalie Ranney (37th) were next, followed by senior Isebella Ciccarelli (40th), sophomore Ava Sheridan (44th), senior Jocelyn Wrightson (65th) and junior Kyrie Hildreth (77th).
Ranney was Windsor’s top finisher a year ago, placing 13th after taking a hard fall. On the boys side, sophomore Jack Jiang ran 23:10.0 to finish 62nd.
Coach Katie Ranney saw this group coming together before the season. “That team chemistry is matched by the work they’ve put in,” Katie Ranney said. “I expect the girls’ team to make a strong showing at states, with the potential to finish among the top teams.”
Windsor girls: 13. Olivia Dube 23:12.1; 35. Maci Burch 26:15.0; 37. Natalie Ranney 26:17.7; 40. Isebella Ciccarelli 26:31.8; 44. Ava Sheridan 27:11.0; 65. Jocelyn Wrightson 30:49.9; 77. Kyrie Hildreth 33:15.2.
