THETFORD, Vt. - White River Valley junior George Roda ran with the front of the pack Saturday at the state cross country championships at Thetford Academy, finishing fourth in his division race in 17:55.2.
Only Stowe’s Nico Delena, the individual champion, Thetford’s Peter Horan and Randolph’s Finnegan Barden finished ahead of him, in a field of more than 100 runners.
Three more Wildcats ran in the boys race. Senior Liam White was 43rd in 21:03.1, sophomore Asher White was 55th in 22:33.4 and freshman Garth Crosby was 78th in 24:26.4.
Coach Taylor Eves expected improvement from this group. “With the added competition and work that has been put into the preseason, I see lots of growth and personal bests in our future,” Eves said before the season.
