WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. — Hartford girls cross country squeezed out a home-meet win Wednesday. The Hurricanes posted a team score of 22 to edge Thetford Academy’s 23, with Mill River Union third at 39.
Johnson led the way for Hartford in second place overall in 22:23, and the pack behind her was enough to hold off a strong Thetford group by a single team point on the Hurricanes’ home course.

Boys cross country finished second at the same home meet. Thetford won the team score with 16, Hartford followed at 39, Fair Haven took third at 58, and White River Valley was fourth at 71. Ofstad placed sixth for the Hurricanes and Brooks was 10th, while Thetford’s Horan won the race in 18:16 and Amber took second.
