WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. — Hartford boys soccer shut out Woodstock 4-0 at home Saturday for its ninth straight win. The Hurricanes move to 9-1 after leading 1-0 at halftime and adding three more in the second half at the Maxfield Sports Complex.
It was another sharp home night in their league. Hartford protected the early lead, pulled away after the break, and kept a long winning streak rolling against a familiar rival.
Hartford boys soccer is next at home against Stratton Mountain School on Thursday, October 8, at 4:00 p.m.
VOLLEYBALL
Middlebury at Hartford | Saturday, October 3
Hartford volleyball fell at home Saturday, dropping a 2-3 five-set decision to Middlebury. The Hurricanes move to 6-2 and left the Tigers at 9-1 after a long home match that went the distance.
It was a tough home night against one of the stronger sides in their league. Hartford pushed Middlebury to five sets but could not close out the final frame.
Hartford volleyball is next on the road at Missisquoi Valley on Monday, October 5, at 6:00 p.m.

Otter Valley at Hartford | Saturday, October 3
Hartford girls soccer fell at home Saturday, dropping a 1-2 result to unbeaten Otter Valley. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime before Otter Valley (10-0) found the winner. The loss ended Hartford’s four-game winning streak and dropped the Hurricanes to 5-4-1.
It was a tight home test against the league’s top team. Hartford matched Otter Valley through a half, then could not find the equalizer after the Otters took the lead.
Hartford girls soccer is next at home against Green Mountain Valley School on Thursday, October 8, at 4:00 p.m.

Woods Trail Run at Thetford Academy | Saturday, October 3
Hartford cross country had a standout day at Thetford’s Woods Trail Run on Saturday. Senior Elijah Ofstad won the Boys Division 2 5,000 meters in 18:06.9, beating Finnian Evans by a few seconds. Junior Cooper Warren placed third in Boys Division 4 in 21:15.8, and sophomore Samuel Ofstad ran 20:21.0 in Boys Division 3. Team scores were not posted.
It was a strong individual meet for the Hurricanes. Elijah Ofstad’s Division 2 win headlined the day, with Warren and Samuel Ofstad adding solid finishes in their races.

Middlebury at Hartford | Friday, October 2
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. — Hartford football fell at home Friday, dropping a 12-35 result to Middlebury. The Hurricanes move to 1-4 and left the Tigers at 2-3 after Middlebury jumped out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.
It was a tough home night in their league. Middlebury kept stacking scores — including a strip-return touchdown from Trevor Wright, a Maverick Gardner-Wacker score, a Tucker Wright touchdown, and Brady Lloyd’s kickoff return plus a touchdown pass to Adam Larose — while Eagan Cadreact accounted for both Hartford touchdowns, the first coming on a Joey Gardner handoff.
Hartford football is next on the road at Mount Anthony on Friday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m.

Hartford field hockey won at home Friday, shutting out Bellows Falls 1-0. The Hurricanes move to 6-4-1 and left the Terriers at 6-3-1 after a one-goal home win against a familiar league contender.
It was a sharp defensive night in their league. Hartford found the only goal of the game and closed out the clean sheet without needing a late equalizer scare to go the other way.

BOYS GOLF
South Qualifier at Crown Point | Friday, October 2
Hartford boys golf took first at the South Qualifier on Friday at Crown Point Country Club, finishing 81-over as a team. Teelin Nowlan led the Hurricanes with an 86, and Cody Hathorn finished about five strokes back around 91 as Hartford punched its ticket to states.
It was a strong qualifier day for the program. Hartford outpaced the rest of the South field, with Green Mountain and Bellows Falls also advancing behind them, and the next stop is states Thursday at Ralph Myhre.
