HANOVER, N.H. - Hanover boys soccer rolled past Bishop Guertin 5-0 at home Tuesday night, a statement win against the team that ended the Bears’ season a year ago.
Bishop Guertin knocked Hanover out of last fall’s quarterfinals on penalty kicks, and coach Lucas Richardson pointed to that game before this season began. “With 10 juniors returning and a core group that has been playing together for years, we have an experienced team that is eager to improve on last year’s quarterfinal PK loss to Bishop Guertin,” he said.
The Bears improve to 12-1-2, while Bishop Guertin falls to 5-6-4. Hanover is unbeaten in five games since its only loss of the fall, a 1-3 result at Manchester Memorial on Oct. 1, and it is perfect at home this season. The win extended a home winning streak that dates back to last season to 13 games.
The defense has been the story all fall. Tuesday was Hanover’s 12th shutout in 15 games, and the Bears have allowed just six goals all season while scoring 49. Hanover has already locked up a playoff berth.
